Traffic Estimation Explained
Traffic estimates are approximations. Third-party tools may use clickstream panels, keyword models, browser extensions, public data, and statistical assumptions.
Why estimates differ
Each provider has different data coverage and modeling methods. Small websites, niche audiences, and private traffic sources are harder to estimate accurately.
Use estimates directionally
Estimated visits are useful for relative comparison and trend awareness, but they should not replace actual analytics from the website owner.
Check source mix
A site with strong direct traffic may look different from a site driven mostly by search. Traffic source quality matters as much as volume.
